Choosing the Right Wine for Your Event

Wine can be a special and important part of an event that you wish to host. But, likeing wine is different than knowing wine. In order to put together that successful event, finding out about wine choices will help raise the bar at the event.

Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most popular of the red wine variety. Typically, the longer this wine is able to age, the more aromatic and flavorful the taste becomes. Although, lesser quality cabernet is ready to go right away and can easily satisfy. The grapes used in this wine are called Bordeaux, which has the classic notes of black-currants, cedar, cigar boxes, pencils, mint and dark chocolate.

Merlot was a branch off from the more traditional cabernet sauvignon. Merlot´s popularity is because it is softer, fruiter, and earlier maturing than Cabernet Sauvignon and displays some of the same aromas along with mint, and tobacco.

Pinot Noir is a great selection that has a silky texture and a smooth sensation. Although, a lot of pinot noir is a hit or miss. You will either love it or hate it. A good mature Pinot Noir has complex flavors of strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, violets, all-spice, tobacco and hay. Pinot Noit is also one of those wines that needs to remain cold, as the heat can bake together the flavors and produce a bland wine.

Zinfandel wine is used from grapes that come from California, although the orignal location is still disputed today. Zinfandel offers the feeling of warmth and has a spicy conviction. With many varieties available, from white to a dark pink, try a bottle that is not more than a few years old, as this is the peak of its flavor.
