A Delicious Cake

The cake at your event or party presents itself as an artful and tasty expression. There are quite a few things to consider in the cake planning process with your caterer:

Will your caterer custom make your cake for you? As you look at the photos of your caterer's history of cakes, decide if their portfolio matches what you want. You also want to know how the cake is made, is it from a box or are the ingredients and cake itself made from scratch? Find out what the price per serving is, as the price varies upon size and decorations.

Find out if there is a delivery charge from your caterer for the cake. Usually the set-up charge is included in the price of the cake. Find out who will be setting up the cake and let your caterer know how you want it to be presented. Do your research and find out is there is an extra charge for cake toppers such as columns or pillars. Find out when and where these rented parts need to be returned.

Many shapes and sizes are available to ensure you get the perfect cake from your caterer. A square or round cake can usually be cut more easily and serve more guests. Choose a multi-flavored cake such as marble, lemon, carrot, spice and even cheesecake. Fillings include raspberry, coconut, strawberry, lemon, mocha and white chocolate cream. Icing on the Cake – Most caterers will offer a traditional white icing, butter cream, cream cheese, white chocolate icing, or rolled fondant.

When it comes to decorating the cake your choices are endless. Caterers can decorate cakes with the look of embroidery, lace, appliqué or elegant drapes. Some choose cascades of fresh or confectionery flowers or satin ribbons that adorn the cake top. Some caterers are adept at painting designs on cakes for a truly exquisite look.
